Amazon Kindle DX With Better Features

Anyone who owns a Kindle 2 or is considering buying one has no
doubt heard of the launch of the Amazon Kindle DX. If you already
own a Kindle 2, this could be a great time to upgrade. Yet if
you are new to the electronic book market, then it could be tough
deciding which to buy.
When you are thinking about spending $500 that either of the
devices cost, you review your options and not make a rash decision.
If you do your research, you can rest assured in your decision
and will get the model that fits you best.
A Bigger Screen With Auto-Rotating Feature
The new and improved Amazon Kindle DX arrived on the market with
a bigger and better attitude. The unit itself is slightly larger
than the Kindle 2, at 10.4" x 7.2" x 0.38", and
it features a relatively huge screen with an auto-rotating feature.
This allows you to switch between portrait and landscape just
by turning the device. This feature makes it great for reading
newspapers or illustrated books and literature. Another great
feature of the DX is that it has twice the capacity as the previous
model; boasting a 4GB hard drive. That is 3500 volumes!
A Large Book Capacity
If you have a lot of reading material, then you may struggle
to search through it because the organizational limits of the
DX are rather imposing. If you do somehow manage to fill up the
3,500 book capacity, then you might just spend most of your time
filtering through it, looking for the item you want to read.
There are still other issues to consider, however. A complaint
that many users have is the digital rights management, or DRM
that Amazon has chosen to use. Widely considered outdated, DRM
is the practice of material protection and unfortunately, it limits
the kind of documents you can use on the DX wireless reading device.
This unequivocally forces consumers to buy from them, and in
many instances you will find that your reader files will not work.
Other complaints about the device are due to personal experiences,
which are fairly uncommon. One of the main complaints is that
the twelve hour battery does not last long enough to complete
transatlantic flights.
Shop Around And Look For The Best Offer
Just because the Amazon Kindle DX is newer and larger, don’t
think that it is the only electronic reader you should consider.
Do your research before making a large purchase like this.
If you are willing to pay a bit more for the extra size and features,
then the DX is a fantastic, technological addition to consumer
electronics. It is a device that will keep you reading wherever
