Banner ads are a cheap option to attract traffic to your website. Depending on placement and how much attention you can bring to your ad, then you may attract plenty of traffic, if the banner ad is placed on thousands of websites, through an advertising service.

If you are looking to sell specific products, when someone clicks on one of your banner ads, then the customer should come to the correct landing page, in order to meet the expectations of the customer. The biggest mistake is to link to the home page and then the customer has to search through your website, to find the product.

The main question is why are they so effective?

The latter is all about the content of the ad itself; does it say the right things to gather attention to the ad, does it have information on it that will make people want to click on the ad, does it make people look at it – all these are pertinent questions to ask if you’re putting out a banner ad for your company.

Placement relates to where the ad itself is shown. If your selling bicycles, you really don’t want to put your banner ad on a car sales site, you want it on a site that complements the product or service that you’re selling, not a competitor or anything like that, simply something that goes with your product itself.

Now some of these points may seem to be self evident and should need no further explanation at all, but it’s surprising just how many people and companies that seem to forget the basics of sales and sales conversions when it comes to the internet.

The web itself is no magic bullet for a business, but placement of good quality banner ads will help bring to your site those prospects that will convert properly for you, and by doing that the banner ads will pay for themselves in no time at all, by giving you what you want when you advertise – sales.

Testing Out Advertising Services

If you have a website and you are looking to review your options and attract traffic to your website, banner ads is one option. There are many advertising services online that will place your banner ads on thousands of websites. You need to check out these placement services to ensure you will be rewarded for your money.

One way to find out which are the more effective advertising services is to try out a service for a short period of time and see if there is a jump in traffic and sales. If you are using tracking software, as most marketers do, then you will see where the traffic is coming from.

If you find the service is effective and making you money, then you should continue using it. If not, either give it another short testing period or try another advertising service.

Attracting Traffic With A Combination Of Options

Always remember to use more than one type of advertising option, in order to attract traffic to your website. Banner ads is one option. Placing articles in article directories with a link to your website is another option.

These advertising options may take a long time to bring traffic to your website. If you are looking to bring quick traffic to your website, then nothing beats an effective pay per click campaign, but this option can be expensive, especially for beginners.

Quite often, a cheap option with good traffic are banner ads.
