BitDefender Internet Security 2010 Computer Software Web Tips Guide
BitDefender Internet Security 2010 Offers A Free Online Scanning Service
By Dirk C Wallace
Here is an indisputable fact. Antivirus companies do not make
money from giving away free antivirus programs. That is not how
they make money. The hook, line and sinker is getting you interested
in their free programs so that later, you will subscribe or buy
one of the more expensive programs.
BitDefender Internet Security 2010 pulls this same trick. The
program may or may not be good, but when you have a bad experience
with the website it can make you want to review your options and
the whole company receive thumbs down from you for their shady
business practices.
A Good Antivirus, AntiSpyware And Computer Protection Program
To be fair, BitDefender Internet Security 2010 is a great antivirus,
antispyware and anti everything program. It can monitor your computer’s
performance.
It monitors the websites you visit to assess threat levels. It
really can do everything. Plus if you buy it, you can use it on
three different computers. The price is reasonable as well.
Free Online Scanner
But, if you go to BitDefender’s website you are going to
be tempted to just use the free online scanner. The claim on the
website is that it will scan your computer and you can see if
it is infected. That is a bit of a catch though to reel you in.
When you click on the free online scanner, a pop up box appears.
The very first thing it wants you to do, is install a program.
The next step is reading the lengthy terms and conditions. Then
the scanning begins. It is incredibly slow. And there is no way
to minimize or maximize the box while you wait. But it gets better.
Requests Your Email Address
While you are patiently waiting for it to scan your computer,
it is doing something a bit shady. The first result you are going
to see is a box stating that the site is unable to scan your computer.
It then wants your email address. The root of all this, is that
now your computer has installed a BitDefender program on it and
they want you to buy the program.
Fear Of Downloading Foreign Software
The shady tactics displayed by the website is definitely off
putting. If they are going to sell BitDefender Internet Security
2010 and be successful, they should not offer free antivirus scans
that do not work. You would think that a website created by a
computer software company would work properly but it does not.
Plus there is the fear of downloading foreign software. BitDefender
fails miserably when they ask you to download the free antivirus
scan software. The whole thing gets two thumbs down.

You simply cannot have a computer connected to the internet these
days without having some type of anti-virus software. That software
can stop intruders from taking over your computer.
That software can stop you from receiving viruses and Trojans
through downloads. It can protect your personal information from
theft. Without it you are really wide open to anything or anyone
that comes along. You must install an antivirus program or you
can lose your computer for good.
