E-Book Reviews With Better Choices
By Calista Joyner
E-book readers save on the production of paper, which cuts back
on tree and forest depletion, not to mention saves money in the
long run. If you are considering purchasing an e-reader, then
you should be aware of the features available.
Do you need the ability to read PDF files on your device? Do
you need a large amount of storage? If so, then continue review
your options with e-book reviews on some very popular readers.
The models to be reviewed are the Sony PRS 505, the Sony PRS
700, the Fujitsu Flepia, and the Amazon Kindle 2 and DX.
Downloading Novels From The Sony Bookstore
The Sony PRS 505 e-reader allows you to download novels from
the Sony bookstore as well as from other ebook online retailers.
With the purchase of this device, the Sony bookstore will give
you a credit for one hundred free ebook downloads from their classics
collection.
The Sony PRS 505 is similar to other e-readers in that it offers
a battery life of approximately 7500 pages and a six inch display
screen. It weighs only nine ounces and has 192 megabits of memory.
Touch Screen Capabilities And A Stylus
The Sony PRS 700 is a device that is somewhat comparable to the
iPhone, with regard to its touch screen capabilities. It has the
turn-page swiping motion feature and improved navigation and a
somewhat faster bit processor.
To highlight or search words and make notes, a stylus is provided.
It offers a six inch screen and weighs ten ounces. The battery
life for this device is 7500 pages and has 512 megabits of memory.
The Cadillac Of E-Readers
The Fujitsu Flepia is considered to be the Cadillac of e-readers.
With a $1000 price tag, it is the first color ebook reader in
the world. It offers an eight inch touch screen, wireless Bluetooth
and Wi-Fi capabilities.
It has a 4GB SD card where you can store novels and other content.
You will also get forty hours of continuous use from each charge.
This device does what every other e-reader does, and then some.
A Portable Device With A Six Inch Screen
According to e- book reviews, the Kindle 2, which is distributed
by Amazon, weighs a tiny bit over ten ounces and offers a six
inch viewing screen. This means that portability is simple, convenient
and easy.
Around 1500 books can be downloaded to this device. Battery life
is around one week. Over 250,000 books are available for purchase
at the online store, and include those on the New York Times Bestsellers
list, as well as magazines and newspapers.
A Large Auto Rotating Screen
The Amazon Kindle DX has a large, auto-rotating screen that is
actually quite a bit larger than the K2's display. This device
also offers native PDF support and it is more suitable for reading
electronic versions of newspapers, formatted books and magazines
because of its portrait or landscape auto-rotating feature.
It offers an almost ten inch screen and weighs in at just under
nineteen ounces, making it almost double the weight of the K2.
The downloading capabilities of the DX are far superior to the
K2, allowing up to 3500 novels and other content to be downloaded.
Battery life for this device is approximately two weeks.
Ongoing Improvement In E-Reader Technology
As e- book reviews will tell you, e-reader technology continues
to advance. It is evident that the electronic books and readers
are here for the long haul.
With the steady and rapid pace of technological advances, the
options e-readers offer are only getting better and better. Like
computers, however, what that means is that your reader may already
be approaching obsolescence shortly after you purchase it, yet
useable nonetheless.
