BrainPOP Computer Software Web Tips Guide
BrainPOP Activities Online
By Joel Wannamaker
It can be difficult for parents and educators to know what websites
are beneficial to students and which are not. Even young children
in grade school are now learning to use the internet. Granted,
many will use it to stay in contact with friends or play games
but there is still a great need for the internet and certain websites.
The right website is fun and educational. So you do not have
to worry about your child just wasting time when they are online.
A website you need to review and check out is BrainPOP.
It offers educational activities that are fun.
Educational Activities Online For Children
So what does the website BrainPOP have to offer students? Well
the main website is geared towards children in middle school on
up to the early teens. The ideal grade range would be from 4th
to perhaps 7th or 8th at the most.
If you have children younger than 4th grade, then you may want
to opt for the companion website that caters to Kindergarten through
3rd grade. So what do you get with a membership?
Many Categories And A Spotlight Feature
Brain POP offers the categories of Science, Arts & Music,
Math, English and Social Studies. It also has a section entirely
devoted to Technology. But it does get better.
Even though each of those categories can really help your child
learn, it also has a Spotlight feature. The Spotlight varies from
month to month so the topics will vary. This means that the site
is constantly being updated.
Manage Lesson Plans For Educators
But the website also offers something for educators. This can
be the teacher in the traditional school setting or it can be
for those that elect to home school their children.
The website offers parents and teachers the opportunity to manage
their lesson plans and also lets them know what their particular
state standards are and how to achieve those standards.
English As A Second Language
If your child does not know English as his or her first language,
then that is not a problem. Currently in a Beta version, Brain
Pop also has a website for ESL.
ESL stands for English as a Second Language. So students not
entirely familiar with English can learn the language while having
the safety of their native tongue.
Choose Your Subscription
You definitely need to think about what you want to use BrainPOP
for prior to making a selection on the membership package. The
packages vary in what they offer and who they are catered towards.
You have the option of choosing a Family subscription, Virtual
School subscription or a Home School subscription.
There is even an option for teachers and educators to pick a
District subscription that would cover all of their students.
Whatever option you select you can be guaranteed that you have
full support and a great product that will educate your children.
