Close Window Commands On Popups
By Christine Wales
When writing the javascript language, there are many different
commands that can be used on interactive web pages to perform
certain functions. This language is embedded into the lines of
HTML code in order to make the webpages function correctly.
Different coding is used in order for different functions or
actions to work properly. Commands such as "close window"
are used to "tell" the web page what specific instruction
should be taken when a web user performs certain actions on the
page. This particular command is used when scripting actions for
popups.
Activating Command Instructions With Scripting
There are different commands that javascript is used to activate,
besides the close window command, such as to open a window or
in a javascript menu. The information to activate the command
is written into the HTML code of a website.
All of the specific command actions that are needed are included
in the scripting. At times, there are also other actions that
need to be written into the code, in order for special commands
to operate properly. If this is the case, then the special command
instructions can be added to the code.
Beware Of Click-Jacking On Popups
In relation to pop up ads and pop under ads, the commands of
the language javascript can be manipulated to review your options
and perform various other actions, along with the action of closing
a window.
In a new trend of click-jacking, the act of a user pressing the
"x" button on a pop up ad cannot only cause the popups
to close but can also prompt a virus or spy-ware program to initiate
as a new download onto the computer’s hard drive.
Downloaded Viruses Destroying The Hard Drive
The virus may initiate numerous more pop up windows to open.
If the new pop up windows also have corrupt closing commands,
more and more viruses may be downloaded to the user’s computer;
ultimately destroying the hard drive and causing all files on
the computer to be lost.
Pop up ads can be extremely frustrating to deal with. For this
reason, many individuals choose to use a popup blocker so the
popups will not appear on their computer screen in the first place.
Shutting Down Computer To Stop Viruses Downloading To Your Computer
For those who do not use a popup blocker, an easy option is simply
to close out the window once it appears. While this may work to
rid the user of many annoying popups, there are times when it
may do more harm than good.
At times there may be a virus hidden in the script of the pop
up ad that is set to be released once the user attempts to close
the window. The virus is most often written as a close window
command and added to the HTML code.
If this is the method chosen to release the virus, then shutting
down the computer entirely is the best way to stop it from being
released on the computer.

Give Me Just The Popup Facts.....
The internet came along and it was a great thing. Websites were
developed and those too were great things. Popups, on the other
hand, are not so great. You go to a particular website and suddenly
your computer screen is filled with these popup ads. It is incredibly
frustrating and annoying!
Not to mention it also slows down your computer and your web
surfing ability. Take a stand and stop them from happening by
having the right antivirus/popup blocker software installed. Your
computer will thank you for it.
