Computer Tune Up To Speed Up Your Computer
By Calista Joyner
Computer tune up can help speed up your computer. There are steps
you can take to keep your computer running smoothly. For example,
there may be viruses, spyware, adware and malware, clogging up
and slowing down your computer. You need to take immediate action
to detect and remove these nasties with antivirus and antispyware
software.
Once all these nasties are removed, you may notice your computer
is running much faster. You should also take steps to prevent
these nasties arriving on your computer with a firewall and internet
security software with the latest updated virus and spyware definitions.
These days of broadband connections, and spending more time on
computers, we need to be much more vigilant to protect and maintain
our computers with a computer tune up.
More Time On A Computer
Let’s face it; more and more our lives are dominated by computers.
Studies show that more and more people spend time on a computer
than time spent doing anything else apart from sleeping. If you
think about it, it is completely true.
Think of all of the hours spent at work at a computer. Think
of all of the time you spend at home in the evenings and weekend
on a computer, checking your e-mail, watching online videos or
chatting with friends.
Yes, computers are important and I can’t even stand it when one
of mine breaks down. That is why I am always thinking about a
computer tune up.
Maintaining Your Computer
What is a computer tune up? Well, it is a pretty broad term for
any number of things that will help insure that your computer
is performing at the ability that it should be performing at.
In fact, there are a number of tasks that you can do yourself
to give yourself a do-it-yourself computer tune up. Here are a
few of them.
The biggest reason that your computer might not be performing
at the top of its ability has to do with memory and that is usually
the focus of any good computer tune up. By memory, of course,
I mean disk space.
Delete Unwanted Files
Clearing away unnecessary files can help your computer index
itself better and more efficiently, allowing it to complete tasks
faster. You can do this yourself by tossing old files and removing
programs and applications you do not use. You can also use your
computer’s defragmenter, found under your control options, to
help it rearrange its internal files to speed processes.
The other memory you need to consider with a computer tune up
is your physical memory: RAM. This is different from your disk
space; this memory is a representation of how many tasks your
computer can process at once and at one speed. Just as you would
expect, the more memory, the more tasks can be performed.
Stopping Programs You Are Not Using
But it is unlikely that you can increase your RAM for free, so
remove some tasks. Your task bar’s lower right corner reveals
all of the programs running - you would be surprised how many
of them can be stopped, because you are not using them.
Of course, there are a variety of tech support shops and services
that can perform a computer tune up for a fee. I strongly suggest
this route if you are not confident or comfortable conducting
your own computer tune up.
Just as you cannot put a price on your own health, don’t put
too low a price on your computer’s health. A computer tune up
can really keep your computer working - and your life in order.
Buying Internet Security Software To Maintain Your Computer
There are other ways you can keep your computer running smoothly.
Rather than sending your computer to a technician and losing access
to your computer for a few days or even weeks, depends on the
workload, you can buy software that will perform most computer
tune up tasks.
For example, if you buy a computer internet security suite, there
are often tools included with the software that will help clean
out your internet cache, search and remove viruses, spyware, adware,
malware and other nasties slowing down your computer.
Look for these tools when you are purchasing internet security
software. This is work that can be completed by software on your
computer and you do not lose access to your computer for days
on end, just by sending your computer to a technician.
Serious Problems Are Best Left To A Technician
Of course, if there are serious problems with your computer,
like a hard disk failure and you need a new hard disk, then you
should send your computer to a technician, to perform the repair
most effectively, and hopefully retrieve all your data from your
damaged hard disk.
These are some of the essential steps you can take to maintain
your computer with a computer tune up.
