Customers Bringing Revenue
By Dirk C Wallace
Customers are the heart and soul of a company’s success. Even
though you may serve hundreds, if not thousands, of clients each
day, your clients expect you to know who they are, what they care
about, what they need and what they’ll want in the future.
If not, then there are hundreds of other places to take their
business. Creating a relationship with each and every consumer
can be a time-consuming task, or it could be easy and automated:
it’s up to you!
Maintaining Relationships With Customers
Implementing CRM systems is one way that businesses are trying
to maintain relationships with their customers. The anagram itself
stands for "Customer Relationship Management," which
involves more than just interpersonal skills but also organization
skills as well. For example, you may be fun, entertaining and
full of interesting topics to discuss, which should make you an
ideal friend.
Yet, you also forget your friends’ birthdays, missed important
parties because you forgot to write down the date and never make
it to your lunch dates on-time. In both interpersonal relationships
and business relationships, you want to review your options and
be organized, competent and thoughtful.
Knowing Your Clients’ Needs
You want to know your clients’ purchasing habits inside and out.
You want to know their existing needs, their future needs, their
other interests, their thoughts about your company and their history
of communication with your team. This knowledge can best be facilitated
through CRM solutions.
In addition to logging customers’ surveys and histories, CRM
solutions can also ensure that people receive prompt assistance
if they email for customer support. Help desk automation lets
consumers know their suggestions, inquiries or issues have been
filed with the appropriate support personnel, and who will be
responding shortly.
Automated Touch Tone Systems
Some CRM applications also include automated touch-tone systems
that log information for call center staff as well so the whole
process is more efficient. When customers phone in, they’ll be
asked by the system to enter their account number into the keypad
so the staff can quickly pull up the customer’s history to serve
them quickly and efficiently.
If a support technician needs to go to their home to fix something,
the support staff can simply verify the address, rather than ask
the customer to spell it out. If the customer has called in the
past, the staff member will see what was previously done to make
a more informed decision on how to proceed, which also improves
customer relationship management.
Now that you’ve seen how CRM systems can improve your relationship
with your customers, you may want to consider purchasing the software
to help your business. You should be aware that CRM is a system,
not just boxed software you can buy at the electronics store.
Setting Up The CRM System In Your Business
You will need to pay consultants and support personnel to install
a LAN network or host the application online. You’ll need to pay
them for the security, upgrades, customizations and maintenance
as well.
Small businesses may want to get a more bare bones version of
CRM or try out the freeware, while large corporations may pay
up to $1 million to have their system implemented and fully integrated
with their other existing systems. Any way you look at it, customer
satisfaction and loyalty can be achieved through better organization.
