Data Backup System For Emergency Recovery

By Rainbow Spear

In the computer dependent world of today, having a data backup system is essential. Computers can malfunction for a variety of reasons, including human error, faulty components and viruses.

If a computer crashes, then all of the valuable information stored there can be lost, most often leaving you unable to recover files. But if you have a computer data recovery plan in place for a computer emergency, then you can save yourself time, money, grief and of course lost data.

Using An External Hard Drive

One type of method for backing up data is using an external hard drive. Information can be stored on hard drives that will be attached to the original hard drive on the computer that you are using. This is one of the most common solutions for storage backup.

If something happens to the original hard drive system, the files are safe on the additional hard drive and can be downloaded back onto the restored computer system or possibly another computer. One method for data backup recovery that is gaining more and more popularity is the DVD.

DVDs Are Portable

Information can be burned onto a DVD+R/RW or a DVD-R/RW; this offers a backup system that is readily available when you need to recover lost data. DVD’s, if protected, also have a long life and of course are very portable. The portability allows you to move the information to another system or recover it temporarily, if you are in need of restoring your computer system.

Another data backup storage method used is tape drives. This is a traditional storage method used by companies. All of the information that the company wants to protect is recorded onto tapes. The information is then normally moved from its original location and stored somewhere else, in case of emergency or disaster.

Data can also be secured by using online storage. An online data backup system allows the information to be stored securely offsite and can be accessed when needed over the internet. Other backup resources include names like jump drive or key memory. These are names for flash memory.

Flash memory devices store memory using USB and or Firewire connections to store data. There are other options available, such as removable disks and local network systems, which can securely backup your data.

While there are many different types of data backup systems, not all systems will work for every application. Do some research to find what works best in a business or personal situation.

These options are available to help make storing information and files easier, which also makes data backup and recovery easier. Whether the files are business or personal, they are important to the creator and therefore deserve to be protected.

Did You Know This About Computers?

Can the information found in a computer memory be changed?
Yes, information found in a computer’s memory can be changed. RAM is deleted and cleared whenever you restart your computer. Long term storage can be deleted and changed to meet your specifications. If you do not know how to change your data, you can always seek out message boards specializing in data storage.

How is memory stored?
Memory is first stored in the primary storage. This is the most accessible memory that is short term. If this memory or RAM is used up the computer will begin to slow down as it has to access more long term memory bank and so most people rely on a larger RAM as they want their computer to run faster.

The memory is stored by the processor who decodes the lines of code. It will keep the information stored so that the computer can access it much faster when it needs it.
