Electronics With Memory Modules
By Joel Wannamaker
Technology is a great thing. It is absolutely vital in the world
of business and leisure. Think about cars, computers and even
MP3 players. All are electronics, that we use on a regular basis.
Some of these share a few things in common, such as how your
notebook memory is similar to that used in televisions and cell
phones. You may not think so, but it is.
All have the same forms of memory that are used to help make
it operate more efficiently. Even your new car utilizes memory
when you use the navigational programs or seat memory buttons.
ROM And BIOS On Your Computer
Notebook and computer desktop memory work on a storage tier.
When you first turn on your computer it must access the Read-Only
Memory (ROM) which has been stored in the permanent storage. The
next application to load is the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS).
The final step is opening up the Operating System (OS).
Without going into confusing details on why it draws from one
storage and not another or why one is a read-only and yet you
save to a different storage, you should know that generic memory
works the same in a variety of other equipment. The process is
very similar to the one your desktop computers use.
Use Memory To Increase Speed
Electronics that utilize memory do so because it causes them
to be able to recall information faster and it increases their
speed and speed of use. Your car remembers your settings and stereo
preferences.
Your cell phone and PDA uses memory to send email, surf the internet
or create a calendar to remember your important information. They
may not have the speed or capabilities of desktop computers, but
they still utilize some of the same technology.
Satellite And Cable Televisions Uses Memory
Even televisions now need memory in order to operate correctly.
Many satellite and cable providers are now offering digital recording
and the ability to pause live television.
Both of these functions require memory, though one is put into
long term memory and the other is put into short term memory for
fast access. Just remember that the quicker the electronic device
can access memory, the faster the device will be.
TV Can Be Hooked To Your Laptop
Electronics have become very sophisticated. Your television can
be hooked up to your laptop. Your cell phone can surf the internet
and send email messages. All of these little bits of electronic
nirvana require the use of memory in order for them to operate.
Just think about where you would be if you decide to review your
options and did not have these luxuries, to use on a daily basis.
Life itself would become rather boring.

Give Me Just The Computer Memory Facts.....
What is Random and Sequential Access?
Random access is the ability of the computer
to draw on different storage randomly. The data does not have to
travel a set path in order to be stored or accessed. Sequential
access is the direct opposite. There must be a set data path in
order for the computer to be able to access the information it
needs in order to run properly.
Can the information found in a computer memory be changed?
Yes, information found in a computer's memory
can be changed. RAM is deleted and cleared whenever you restart
your computer. Long term storage can be deleted and changed to
meet your specifications.
If you do not know how to change your data,
you can always seek out message boards specializing in data storage.
