Today, it seems that the most effective forensic computing network reconstruction approach is through the high interaction "honeypot" scheme, which has emerged as an effective computer security tool for observing and even understanding the intruder’s motivations, tactics and toolkits.

A honeypot is a trap that is set in order to detect, deflect or in some way counteract attempts at the unauthorized use of a private information system. It generally consists of a computer, network site or data that appears to be part of a network, but is actually isolated, unprotected and monitored.
