Identity Fraud Protection To Guard Your Personal Information
By Rainbow Spear
Preventing identity theft is something that everyone has to worry
about daily. The notorious identity thief is lurking on websites,
message boards on the internet and even digging through your trash.
Each piece of paper that contains personal information gives
the person the ability to seize your identity. It is why so many
people are now being forced to learn all they can about identity
fraud protection, in order to stop identity thieves from absconding
with their futures. You have to know how to protect yourself,
in this day and age.
The misnomer about identity fraud protection is that it can completely
stop identity theft. Unfortunately it cannot. The way this fraud
protection works, is by utilizing the three major credit bureaus
to help monitor your credit activities.
Subscribing To Credit Bureaus
The credit bureaus show all open lines of credits, current balances,
current payments and also shows all previous names and addresses.
The catch is that you have to subscribe to these credit bureaus
in order to view your credit report. But once you do, you can
report any incorrect information.
If you are an identity theft victim, then your first step is
contacting all of your financial institutions and the government.
This means that you need a copy of the address and phone numbers
with all of your financial information.
Changing Your Personal Information Is A Lengthy Process
You can contact your local sheriff for information on how to
change your social security number, your driver's license and
any other forms of identification. Just be warned: this is a lengthy
process and you will have to provide proof that your identity
has been stolen. You should also make sure to review all your
options and file a police report so that you will have proof that
you are aware of the problem and are taking measures to stop it.
The Hard Truth About Identity Thieves
A hard truth about identity theft is that the victim often knows
the perpetrator. It may be a parent taking out a loan in a child's
name. It may be a brother or sister using their parent's personal
information for fraudulent reasons. It can be heartbreaking to
know that someone you know would try to steal from you. No matter
what reason they give, it is still wrong.
That identity thief is not going to stop trying to steal a person's
identity just because that individual has identity fraud protection.
But that protection does allow you or anyone who subscribes the
ability to always see what is happening with your information.
If for some reason you do spot something that is not right, you
can send a dispute letter to the credit bureaus. Just make sure
that you send it via registered mail and that it has to be signed
for. Keep a copy for yourself and you will have support for your
case.

Give Me Just The Identity Theft Facts.....
Most people are aware of how identity theft happens. A thief
gets a person's personal information or their financial information
and then uses it for their own gain. But what happens after the
identity is stolen?
It becomes a long process of proving that you did not make certain
purchases, did not live in a certain area or did not take out
lines of credit. Without someone there to help you along the way,
you could find yourself struggling for years to get back on track.
