Memory Upgrade For A Faster Computer
By Calista Joyner
A slow running computer can be a huge pain when you are trying
to get a job done. The software runs slow, the load times are
unbearably long and forget about playing any computers video games.
If this is happening to you and you want your computer to operate
at a faster speed, then you need a memory upgrade to make your
computer zip along at lightening fast speeds. You will be able
to run several applications at once, listen to your MP3 players
music and get to play those computer games you just cannot live
without!
Fixing A Slow Running Computer
A memory upgrade is the least expensive way to fix a slow running
computer. It is also very simple to install once you have the
basics down and know a little bit about your PC memory. Notebook
memory is the same, but for brevity’s sake we will concentrate
just on the desktop.
The first step is to find out what kind of memory your computer
currently has and then purchase. The types of memory are: SDR
SDRAM, DDR SDRAM, DDR2 SDRAM AND RDRAM. Each will be rated according
to speed.
Step number two is to go to a discount computer hardware store
to purchase your new memory card. You want to upgrade to the highest
memory you can afford. Remember that more memory means more speed
and efficiency for your computer.

You do not want to have to purchase a new card every few months.
Go ahead and splurge a little. This is the cheapest way to improve
your computer’s speed.
Generic Memory Card
Most computers allow you to use generic memory cards. Once you
have your new memory card it is then time to open that baby up.
Remove the cover to your computer.
If you have an available slot, then all you have to do is plug
in the new desktop memory card you purchased. If there are no
open slots left, then you will need to remove the old memory and
replace it with the generic memory card or a computer specific
memory card.
There, that was pretty easy was it not? You can now look forward
to a computer that is running faster thanks to your handy skills
at performing a memory upgrade of your system.
Random Access Memory
There will be more room for the Random Access Memory to draw
from and you know that it means your computer will run at a faster
speed. More memory also means that you will be able to play the
games and listen to your MP3 players music with no loading interruptions.

Did You Know This About Computers?
How does the memory affect my computer’s speed?
The more RAM, Random Access Memory, your
computer has on hand that eliminates the need for it to retrieve
from long-term storage, the faster your computer will become.
It will allow you to surf the internet
faster (provided you have a fast connection speed), open more
applications with little wait time and even allow you to run more
advanced software that you previously may not have been able to
run before you upgraded your computer’s memory speed.
Can different computers use the same memory?
As long as the computer has the same base
components, it can use different memory module options. Some
computers on a network may be able to be connected together
so that they can use a larger RAM database. The database would
have to be pretty large for more than one computer to be
connected and all of them using the RAM.
