Myspace Avatars Computer Software Web Tips Guide
Myspace Avatars Help Make More Friends
By Christine Wales
Are you looking for unique Myspace avatars? There are hundreds
to choose from at sites like www.myspace-avatars.org,
www.coolavatars.net
and www.skamu.com,
yet www.glitter-graphics.com
has some of the best selections, from cat slide-shows and smooching
cartoon monkeys, to Starbucks frappuccinos and anime character
animations.
Perhaps you want a funny stick figure bashing his head into the
computer to show your frustration with technology, or you can’t
get enough of the dancing Kermit the Frog icon with the "yay
ohmygod" caption. Find an avatar that suits you and use it
on your main profile pic, affixed as your message board tag, as
a posted message on someone’s "comments" section or
as your IM icon.
Creating Your Own Myspace Avatar
If you’d like to create your own Myspace avatars the computer
geek way, then you’ll need to review your options and use
a computer with an internet connection, movie software like Quicktime
or MovieSnapshot and photo editing software that can create layers,
like Adobe Photoshop. To create still images from a movie/AVI
file, you’ll need to choose an animated sequence, video
or movie trailer.
If you have a movie on DVD you’d like to grab a scene from,
then you’ll need to rip your DVD into an AVI file using
appropriate software. Next, you’ll have to play the video
clip, pause on the shot you want to make an avatar out of.
Some software will allow you to select "create thumbnail"
or "save image," or in other cases you’ll need
to click "print screen" on your keyboard and paste into
MS Paint to save as a screen shot.
Save The Animation As A GIF File
Advance the clip to the next frame and create a still image,
and continue doing this for as long as you want the sequence to
go on. Then you can open all the still images in Photoshop and
place each image in its own layer, saving the animation as a GIF
file.
Most people use their Myspace avatars as personalized signatures
on their forum posts. You may make friends because you find their
avatars so hilarious, unique or interesting. You’ll certainly
come to recognize some of the more stand-out personalities that
way. Another popular usage for Myspace avatars is to use that
photo for your instant messenger service.
An Avatar For Just About Anything
While MSN and AIM only allow you to have one picture, an animated
GIF image allows you to sneak a slideshow of photos into the display!
These funny and amusing Myspace graphics also make great comments
for your friends, acting as personalized greetings. There is an
avatar for just about anything, so set aside a few hours to browse.
Many people find creating animated Myspace avatars to be difficult
or frustrating. Don’t get discouraged. There are a number of websites
that allow you to generate original Myspace graphics. For pre-teens,
www.superpimper.com
and www.meez.com
have neat avatar generators with virtual people you can deck out
to look just like you.
For people who want to upload images from their computers into
a rotating animation, you can check out the animated GIF generator
at www.myspacegens.com.

Did You Know This About MySpace?
When was MySpace created?
For those MySpacers that have been on a while
it is hard to fathom that it has only been available since August of
2003. Before that social networking sites were very limited and most
required some form of payment. It seems as if this site has been
around forever but it is a relatively new way to communicate.
