News About Social Media Online Information Resources

Even if some companies are being dragged kicking and screaming
into the social networking world, they are busily gathering news
about social media from wherever they can get it. Their customers
are usually far ahead of them in knowing how to work with social
networks, so they need to catch up, fast.
Developing a social media strategy for staying relevant to users
of their products and services might end up, one day, being a
matter of survival itself. So whether they get their education
from buttoned-down instructors or less traditional teachers is
not all that important.
Social Media Breakfast Program
One of the ways these companies are learning about the new social
networks is by participating in the Social Media Breakfast program.
These breakfasts were started by a man named Bryan Person, who
describes himself as a "social media evangelist" for
LiveWorld, a company that helps businesses promote their brands
through social networking.
The breakfasts usually take place on a monthly basis, and bring
media networking experts and enthusiasts together with business
people, to learn the latest news and policies about social media,
and learn to put this new media to work for their companies. There
are many other meetings and clubs like this that serve corporate
customers.
The Social Media Guide Online
One of the best sources of news about social media, though, is
a website called Mashable (www.mashable.com),
which has as its subtitle, "The Social Media Guide."
That may sound like a grandiose claim, but this is a website that
delivers.
It not only brings the latest news developments to people’s
immediate attention, but does indeed serve as a guide. Its website
features social media lists describing tools to review your options
for using everything from torrents to Twitter to Wordpress.
Looking at its posts directed particularly to businesses, you
find a host of articles like "Why Social Media is Vital to
Corporate Social Responsibility" or "10 Small Business
Social Media Marketing Tips."
Geeks Giving Corporates Latest Tips
Whether business and tech people read websites full of information
and tips, or gather together from afar in one of the new social
media conferences, there’s a whole new industry being created
to provide news about social media.
This brings corporate bigwigs into the same rooms as serious
computer geeks they might not have given the time of day to in
the past. In an entertaining turnaround, it’s the geeks who are
telling the corporations how to run their business. In a hitherto
unheard of way, the companies are being dutiful pupils, and learning
quickly.

Give Me Just The Social Media Facts.....
Has social media or social networking taken away a lot of privacy?
Social networking and the whole social media
phenomenon has definitely taken a toll on a person’s privacy.
If you put something out on a website, a forum or a blog then
you run the risk of anyone you know coming across that information.
There have also been examples of people
being fired because of employers looking at the employee’s Facebook
or Myspace page and feeling that they are not acting appropriately.
This is especially true of people that work with the public.
They have to realize that their actions
are monitored and that people actually do read their status updates
or their "twitters." And there is the very fact that anyone can
find you through your email address. It really has become a smaller
world courtesy of the internet.
