The goal of DJ Hero for the Nintendo Wii controller is to excite
the millions of dance club fans who want to be able to play along
to hit songs from an eclectic range of genres such as R&B,
hip-hop, rock, pop and electronica.
This game is one of the best Nintendo Wii games this year and
allows players to rule the party with original mixes and remixes.
Joining the internationally acclaimed DJ, recording artist and
producer DJ Shadow, who has consulted on and contributed to several
DJ Hero mixes, and making their video gaming debuts are DJ Z-Trip
and DJ AM. Each DJ appears as an in-game character and they each
have created multiple exclusive mixes for the DJ Hero title.
Ability To Master DJ Styles Like Blending And Scratching
DJ Hero utilizes and masters various DJ styles and techniques
like blending, scratching, sampling and cross fading, while leaving
plenty of room for creative expression.
With a wide variety of effects and player-chosen scratches and
samples, Hero video games rule the party scene, performing music
as only a true DJ can. Competition and creativity are heightened
by heart thumping multiplayer game play when two DJs battle or
ask a player to join in by emceeing over any track in a song that
requires a microphone.
Rocking Together With Other Players
As an added feature, players can review their options and rock
together, since DJ Hero features allow both the Nintendo Wii games
DJ Hero and the Guitar Hero guitar to be played on this title.
What is even better is that the hundred plus licensed tracks
have been mashed-up to create ninety three original songs that
you won’t be able to hear anywhere else. David Bowie is mixed
with 50 Cent; the Beastie Boys are mashed-up with Blondie, and
MC Hammer is mixed with Vanilla Ice.
With this new type of music game there is a new type of Wii game
controller, which means you’ll have to learn how to use it. DJ
Hero comes with a turntable controller; half of the device is
the mixer that includes the cross fader, effects knob, euphoria
button and the other half is the record platter with three face
buttons. The halves can be separated and flipped for players who
are left-handed.
Top Of The Heap
In a crowded genre of music-inspired video games, DJ Hero is
one game that rests comfortably at the top of the heap. It is
one of the best Nintendo Wii games released this year.
The original mixes are mind-blowing and scratching the turntable
is just as fun as it looks. Although it’s not as full of features
as the Guitar Hero or Rock Band series, the simpler presentation
really works in its favor.
