is the padlock device at the bottom of the screen.
This padlock lets the shopper know that the site is secure for
the consumer to be shopping on. However, one will not see the
padlock until the checkout process. A few things to look for before
checking out will be if the site has a telephone number and a
geographical address. If a store does not have these two things,
buyers beware.
One additional pitfall that online shoppers may experience is
the quality of products that can be purchased may not be what
is typically expected. There are ways to avoid purchasing less
than desirable merchandise and that is by reading previous shopper’s
reviews. Many stores want customers to rate their items so that
future consumers will purchase their material. Ebay is a good
example of this.

When buying from anyone on Ebay, a shopper can read the review
left by previous buyers and sellers of that person’s goods. If
someone has given a bad review, a shopper may look elsewhere to
purchase the same item since Ebay has so many similar items for
sale. One option that is available for online shoppers is a review
site.
These sites offer consumers a chance to rate any website based
on products and services provided. One site that offers reviews

Return And Exchange Policy
Something that an online shopper may fail to fully understand
when purchasing goods online is the return or exchange policy
that an online shopping site offers. The time frame that a product

Another thing that a shopper more than likely does not pay attention
to is that if an item is returned or exchanged a consumer may
be responsible for the shipping charges. QVC will gladly accept
returns for up to thirty days; however, shipping charges will
not be refunded.
In other words, if a customer pays $60 for an item and it costs
$15 to return it; in reality they have lost $15. These are very
important things that a consumer must be aware of before shopping
online.
Do Your Research Before Buying
No matter whether a person is online shopping or going to their
local big box retailer, pitfalls of shopping abound everywhere.
When shopping online, issues such as security and product quality
plague customers.
However, if a little research is previously done, a person can
avoid extra charges and merchandise that they will be unhappy
with. Online shopping can be a great experience if one just pays
attention to the fine print.
