Pocket PC Keeps You In Touch
By Joan Kickosawa
With so many of us on the go and away from our computers, it
is not always a good idea to be out of touch with work and personal
communication. Appointments become forgotten, important documents
sit and wait on our computers and in general, it is a pain to
leave our communication center.
Now, you do not have to worry about being out of reach. A pocket
PC can keep track of your appointments and can send and receive
emails. New models even combine the use of your computer with
the ability to make and receive phone calls.
The Evolution Of The Pocket PC
The pocket PC, or pocket personal computer, was an evolution
in the making. It started out as a basic device about the size
of a calculator and had the most basic of functions. Later models
added the feature of being able to see one line of text, yet have
since evolved into personal hand held assistants that can email,
browse the internet, organize your daily events and files and
even play multimedia games.
The pocket PC is also known as a Personal Digital Assistant,
or PDA. The previous versions ran on Windows Mobile 5, but have
since upgraded to Windows Mobile 6. Windows Mobile 5 was a great
relief to PDA owners.
PDA As A Smartphone
In previous versions, if the battery ran dead, then all information
would be lost. Mobile 5 eliminated this by storing the information
on a flash drive. The handhelds software also improved with version
6, with advanced capabilities, more storage and a feature that
allows the PDA to act as a Smartphone.
The Windows mobile Smartphone is a combination of the cell phone
and the personal digital assistant. The PC software is there in
the cell phone so it can be used as a personal computer when on
the go.
It was this evolution of the cell phone that had many companies
altering their selling tactics. Most companies elected not to
pursue the pocket PC, since Smartphones were becoming more of
a mainstream choice.
Stay In Touch With Your Pocket PC
The pocket PC is a great tool to have if you find yourself away
from your home computer or office. It is an excellent way to stay
in touch. There are some great models to review your options,
such as the PalmOs, iPhone, Blackberry and many of the Hewlett
Packard brands of smart phones.
Even if you already have a cell phone, the PDA can still be used
for its scheduling capabilities; however, once you have fully
mastered the PDA, you’ll never want to go back to a paper planner
again.

Did You Know This About Pocket PCs?
Where would the world be without its constant connection with
each other? You know the connection. The one that keeps us at
our computers and on our cell phones constantly. We need to stay
connected for business.
We stay connected to our family and friends to keep in touch
with what is going on in their lives. But sometimes carrying a
laptop is just not feasible and we certainly cannot lug around
a huge desktop computer. A pocket pc is what you need to stay
connected and be able to have a portable device that can keep
you connected.
