Start A Website For An Online Presence
By Joel Wannamaker
Start a website is the first step. Then you want to consider
on the type of website. Is the site an information, e–commerce,
family website or a personal website?
Once you decide the type of website, you need to have a budget.
The cheapest website, is the one you create yourself with tools
provided by the service hosting your website.
If you want to start a website with complex online facilities
like online databases, online transactions, secure pages, animations,
online video and images, then you should hire a professional web
design company to ensure it all works and if there is any problem,
they will fix it for you.
Many Ways To Start A Website
It might be safe to say that at least one fourth of the people
on the Internet have had a web site of their own at one point
or another. Some are very easy to start while others are a little
harder to get up and moving.
The great news is that there are many ways to start a web site,
and you don’t have to be a computer genius to do it. You can go
very simple, or you get something amazing without having to know
a lot about web design or computer programming codes.

A Family Website
If you want to start a website to communicate with your family,
you only have to make a few clicks and you are good to go. You
can start a message board by going to one of the many places online
that offer them for free.
You can set up your message board rather quickly and very easily.
You get your own web address and you can direct your family to
meet you there. This might be the fastest and easiest way to start
a web site if you don’t have any idea about what you are doing.
Web Building
If you want to start a web site of a different sort there are
many places out there that offer easy to use web building. They
give you the space and the tools to make your site as you want
it to be.
You will have to know a little more about computers to do this,
but with a little learning you can start a web site this way.
You will have to learn how their web editor works, but if you
put just a little time into it you should be able to catch on
rather quickly.
A Simple Web Design Editor
You will find that you can do more with a simple web design editor
than you ever imagined. If you want to start a web site and you
know a little bit about web design, you might want to go out and
buy a program to help you on your way.
I use one called Swish, and I found that once I got the hang
of it that it was only limited by my imagination. You can start
a web site by using this, or you can find one of the many other
great programs out there that are designed just for this purpose.
A Business Website
You should remember, however, that if you are a business owner
you really need something amazing for your company. In this case,
you may want to hire someone to start a web site for you so that
you know everything is in working order and that any problems
that may arise will be dealt with quickly.
For a business website, you need to consider the aim of the site.
Will you sell your products or services on the site? If you do,
then you may need to allow for online payments, completion of
forms, images of products, information on your products and services.
Attracting Internet Traffic
You may then need to attract internet traffic to your site. It
is no use having a website without anyone knowing about the site.
You need to tell everyone on the internet, you have a fabulous
new site. You can bring traffic by placing articles about your
products and services in article directories. You can also exchange
links with other websites, where they can bring some of their
traffic to your site.
You can also pay for traffic by advertising in Google Adwords.
You need to monitor the campaign and bring traffic to specific
pages on your website so that the visitor sees what they want
to see and buy your products and services.
As you can see, there are many options to consider when you want
to start a website.
