The website www.youtube.com took the internet world by storm
in 2005, allowing an enticing medium where any ordinary person
could be a star. Registered users can upload their homemade videos
for the entire world to see and promote their movies on other
social networking sites or via email; although fame-hungry citizens
aren’t the only ones enjoying YouTube videos.
This year, political candidates have been harnessing new media
to promote their campaign messages and there was even a "YouTube
Debate" in the primary that allowed American citizens the
ability to ask candidates personal questions via video! Businesses
are also wondering how they can review their options and use this
powerful medium to create brand recognition.

There is no shortage of funny videos on YouTube! One can find
all of the best sketch comedy skits from shows like Saturday Night
Live, In Living Color and MadTV, as well as cartoon comedies,
like South Park, Family Guy and the Simpsons. Additionally, free
clips of stand-up comedians like George Carlin, Greg Giraldo,
Daniel Tosh and Dane Cook can be viewed.

a cameo appearance in Weezer’s latest music video. A competing

lured away "Lonelygirl15," a show about the fictitious
exploits of a teenager. The kids who make Smosh also left YouTube
after signing a deal with www.livevideo.com.
Amateur comedian LisaNova signed with MadTV after posting successful
online skits.
Likeable And Eccentric People Are Watched A Lot
Hollywood talent scout Frederick Levy says that it takes talent
and an extroverted personality to become a www youtube com phenomenon.
"There are a lot of people who aren’t very likable, yet are
very popular on YouTube," Levy admits. "Take Chris Crocker,
who was behind the "Leave Britney Alone!" video. I don’t
think he’s the most likable person on the net, as he is a little
eccentric and crazy.
Likable people are watched a lot, but so are eccentric people."
The site has discussed sharing royalties with popular producers
but no model is in place as of yet. For now, it seems that other
sites and advertising campaigns will try to lure the young stars
away with promises of peanuts, or perhaps a few people will launch
really successful careers!
